Let’s face it, some days just harder than others. This morning was turning out to be “one of those days” for me. I slept later than I wanted to, woke up foggy and groggy, and as I started my morning I just could not get focused! I was scattered, could not figure out what to do next, and quite frankly felt overwhelmed by the hundreds of thoughts/tasks/to-do’s in my head.

I found myself doing 20 things at once. Multitasking if you will… and after 2 hours, I had still not accomplished anything!  The dishwasher still needed to be half-emptied, the laundry had not been started although it was gathered, I took out my breakfast but didn’t eat it, my Social Media accounts had not been tended to ( even though I had my list of inspired post ideas to refer to for this exact scenario, yet still I got nowhere….!) and the unproductive list went on and on….

Catch my drift??  I know you’ve been here in your own chaotic scenario trying to get a million things done at once too…. whether at home, work, or maybe in the grocery store… IT HAPPENS TO ALL OF US!

You feel scattered, foggy, overwhelmed, not focused, or just feeling a bit off. You try to multitask to get everything done, but it doesn’t seem to work – it actually backfires and stresses you out more!
You have a hard time getting your brain into focus mode, which is not helpful for tackling your “to-do” list. This overwhelmed feeling turns into what I call a “burning fire” that can effect the rest of your day if you don’t put it out!! Your productivity lacks, your mood and energy will be low, and unnecessary stress will be had….ALL DAY LONG….if you don’t put it out before it spreads like, well… wild-fire!

SO WHAT DO YOU DO IN WHEN YOU FIND YOURSELF IN THIS SPACE???
When you feel your brain start to light on fire, you STOP, DROP, AND ROLL!

It may feel counterintuitive, but that’s what you have to do! You don’t want to keep running in circles, creating more of a mess. You need to put the fire out! You need to suffocate it so you can move forward- WITH FOCUS, CLARITY, AND PRODUCTIVITY.

PUT THE FIRE OUT WITH STOP, DROP, AND ROLL!

STOP: In that moment you realize your mind is spiraling out of control and effecting your day, stop.  Stop and just catch your breath. Take 3 deep breaths, or 20 if you need to! Just stop whatever you are doing and breathe, just for a moment.  Reset and center. Close your eyes if you can. Take a moment to STOP and breathe, immediately creating a positive change.

I invite you to do this now, before you read on.

Feel the difference!

DROP: Drop your current thoughts. Drop them ALL! Put them ALL away. They will be there when you get back. They can wait but YOU cannot. Focus your mind towards gratitude. Say 3-5 things out loud to yourself (or silently if you must) that you are thankful for. Anything that comes to mind! Don’t think too hard about this, just do it! There is no right or wrong. Just DROP your thoughts, and find your gratitude.

Try practicing now! What are you grateful for in this very moment?

ROLL: Now that you are breathing, and full of gratitude, ROLL in this feeling! Feel your breathe. Feel your powerful heart that is full of love and thanks. Feel this moment you are in RIGHT NOW!  ROLL around in it for a little while! Bask in this moment of freedom! Feel the release of the heat from the fire.  Feel this peaceful, joyous moment of calm, cool, collected.  Hold on to it, have fun in it!

ROLL AROUND IN IT RIGHT NOW!

AHHHHHHHH! HOW GOOD DOES THAT FEEL?!!!??

You are now Calm. You are Cool. You are Collected. You are at peace.
Throw in an affirmation while you’re here! Repeat to yourself:
“ I am calm. I am cool. I am collected and ready for the next action that I need to take.”

Set your next intention. Just ONE thing that you will do next.

What is it?….. Do it! Finish it!

And then ask again. What is the next thing I need to accomplish? ONE thing at a time….

No multitasking, chaos, or negativity can touch you now.
You are focused and clear while you take effective action towards EACH single task at hand.

BEAUTIFUL ISN’T IT? YOU PUT THAT FIRE OUT OF ITS MISERY!
ALL YOU HAD TO DO WAS STOP, DROP, AND ROLL!

When you find yourself scattered, overwhelmed, or unfocused at any time throughout your day, do this 2-3 minute exercise and put that brain fire out!
Bring yourself back into this beautiful space of peace and clarity, and tackle your daily To-Do’s with ease and grace. Take the time to center yourself.
